Lord Thompson Manor on Reception Lighting

The wedding ceremony itself is the highlight of the wedding day, and among the most important moments of the bride and groom’s lives. That said, we at the Lord Thompson Manor can’t help but notice that they breeze by, often taking up less than an hour, while the reception takes up considerably more time. We find that wedding guests are the most active and have the most fun when the reception has the perfect atmosphere, and when we want to create the ideal ambiance, we use lighting.
We apply the same little tricks of the advertising and theatrical trades to each wedding reception’s unique needs. The proper amounts of complementary colors can not only illuminate tables, centerpieces and cakes that were all so carefully crafted and chosen, but make them look better. Incidentally, the same is true for the guests!
Proper lighting can also help focus the guests’ attention. We accent our elegant tables during dinner to keep our guests looking at each other and interacting. The centerpieces are lit to show the bride and groom’s tastes at best advantage. Afterwards, the lighting in the dining rooms dims, as the coffee and desert tables grow more apparent. Then, of course, we focus light on the dance floor.
Lighting can both reflect and stimulate the overall mood of the reception. When dinner is over, the lights brighten up to bring energy to the dance floor and encourage guests to follow suit. Lighting can even complement the songs the band or DJ is playing. Then, as time goes by and guests grow tired, the lighting softens and relaxes with them.
